For Immediate Release
September 24, 2025, New York, NY – Ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks at the United Nations General Assembly Friday, CIVICUS Secretary General Mandeep Tiwana issued the following:
“Just one week after an independent UN Commission found that Israel has committed genocide, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is being given the UN stage. Netanyahu has openly vowed there will be no Palestinian state – and now he will use the world’s largest platform to amplify that message.
“No leader responsible for mass atrocities enjoys greater impunity than Netanyahu. He has presided over genocide – the greatest crime under international law - and trashed every basic principle of humanity and decency.
“To escape prosecution for corruption at home and accountability for security lapses, he has embarked on a campaign of blood and revenge against the Palestinian people and those calling for an end to impunity.
CIVICUS is calling for an immediate end to the genocide, justice for the Palestinian people, and for Israel to immediately declare a ceasefire, commit to a peace process, and allow full humanitarian access.
