CIVICUS Advocacy

CIVICUS supports advocacy efforts around the world for policy solutions promoting an inclusive and empowered civil society. CIVICUS’ leadership participate in notable international fora to advance the interests of civil society in global discourse and to affect change in areas of pressing global concern like human rights violations, climate change, financial reform, sustainable development and closing of civic space. CIVICUS also enhances its network’s access to governance systems, such as the UN, by facilitating civil society interactions with UN bodies and mechanisms.

Along with the initiatives mentioned below, CIVICUS conducts targeted advocacy to highlight both systemic and episodic threats to civil society around the globe. These include producing media statements, alerts, and brief, solidarity missions and actions, and highlighting cases of civil society activists imprisoned because of their work.
