The CIVICUS World Assembly is the premier global gathering of civil society organisations,
donors and representatives of government, international institutions and business to seek collaborative ways to strengthen the rights of citizens everywhere to exist, express and engage collectively. The 2010 CIVICUS World Assembly was held in Montreal, Canada from 20-23 August 2010. It brought together over 500 delegates on the theme of 'Seeking out Solutions: Economic Justice'. Highlights from the 2010 World Assembly include: • 542 delegates at the World Assembly (52% women) including 62 Youth Assembly Delegates • 94 countries represented with 32% of delegates from developing countries • 133 panellists, workshop facilitators and speakers • 3 plenary sessions on Economic Justice, Development Effectiveness and Climate Justice • 2 live radio broadcasts of the BBC's World Have Your Say programme from the Youth and World Assemblies • A flash mob by the Youth Assembly delegates on the streets of Montreal The 2011 CIVICUS World Assembly will be held in Montreal from 10-12 September 2011 on the theme Civil society and global decision-making: Doing it better.
