CIVICUS Membership is open to civil society organisations, foundations and individuals
from across the spectrum and diversity of civil society. During 2010, CIVICUS represented a wide influential network of civil society organisations and networks including INGOs, national, regional networks and grassroots CSOs centred around particular thematic areas, such as gender, climate/environment, poverty, governance and accountability, from 110 countries from the global North and South. All members join in solidarity with other like-minded people and organisations by supporting CIVICUS' mission, vision and values. CIVICUS aims to 'sense' the needs of its members, serve their interests, reflect their views in its public stances and project priorities and remain accountable to them. Accordingly, in 2010 as part of its renewal process, CIVICUS worked towards better integration of CIVICUS members into the broader framework of CIVICUS' activities. Plans for this process include increasingly reaching out to civil society on a regional basis. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "CIVICUS as the World Alliance for citizen participation around the world has to
consider opening regional offices in the regions to enable its members to share best practices in their regions to inform the wider network of civil society operating in those regions, and act as catalyst to inform governments on its work. The Secretariat should also continue to share its findings on trends affecting the work of civil society organisations in other parts of the world." - CIVICUS Stakeholder --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
