Welcome to CIVICUS' 2010 Annual Report

For civil society, as well as CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, 2010 was a challenging year.
Cutbacks in funding, threats to civil society's right to exist, express and engage, and converging climate and
environmental crises kept the entire sector on its toes throughout the year. However, in the words of CIVICUS
Secretary General, Ingrid Srinath: Transcending pessimism and optimism, perhaps the key trait that marked
2010 was determination.

The pages of this Annual Report provide an overview of CIVICUS' work throughout the year, the challenges
and the achievements. First, however, click on the map below to explore our major successes for 2010 and the
reach of our network.

Global - CIVICUS launched the PG Exchange [http://www.pgexchange.org], a
resource centre aimed at providing participatory governance practitioners with tools
and opportunities for knowledge sharing and peer learning.
CIVICUS developed Civil Society Watch Online [Link], a new interactive database
and online platform for action that serves as a central hub for monitoring and tracking
threats to civil society and coordinating joint action [
