The CIVICUS Civil Society Index (CSI) in Wales was implemented by the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA). The report highlights the many strengths of Welsh civil society and a number of crucial challenges. Due to the wealth of data and information available on civil society in Wales, WCVA decided to apply the CSI Shortened Assessment Tool (CSI-SAT). A major result of the CSI-SAT process was the recognition that the diverse range of civil society actors would benefit from stronger coordination and cooperation across sectoral boundaries. In this regard, WCVA and CIVICUS hope that the CSI-SAT implementation has initiated a process of making civil society actors aware of the mutual benefits of cross-sectoral collaboration in the years to come.
