Executive Director, 350.org | United States
In 2007, May Boeve and six other students teamed up with environmentalist and author Bill McKibben to start the innovative and disruptive climate organisation 350.org.
Fresh out of college, Boeve had quietly risen to the top of the organisation and was given responsibility for the organization's operations in North America. At the age of 27 she became the executive director.
Today, May Boeve is at the forefront of the fight against climate change and a leading voice for the global divestment movement.
She played a crucial role in organizing the People’s Climate March in September 2014, which brought 400.000 protesters to the streets of New York, and thousands of others in 161 countries, demanding action on climate change.
In an interview with TIME magazine, she said “Climate change connects every issue” and she believes that the only way to stop global warming is to create a “massive social movement” to weaken the fossil fuel industry and make people embrace renewable energy.
